Election of Student Council Members
Term of office shall commence at the first May session of the Student Council.  All terms of student representatives shall be for one (1) year.

Student Council Meetings

Attendance and Absences at Regular Meetings
Student Council members are expected to regard attendance at all SC meetings and functions as primary obligation to their colleagues and the University. Failure to attend a meeting will result in an absence.  Members have twenty-four (24) hours before and after a meeting to notify the Secretary of a why he/she is/was unable to attend.  It is up to the discretion of the Secretary and President to replace the absence with an excused absence. Members must be present for more than 50% of a meeting to be accounted for as present.  The time of those entering late or leaving early must be documented by the Secretary.

Upon the end of the meeting of the second (2nd) absence a member is automatically removed from their seat.  Attendance to SC meetings must be taken seriously, only those who have at least one excused absence may request reinstatement back to SC.

Office Hours
Each SC member must spend at least three (3) office hours each week, with one (1) hour completed in the SC office, and the other two (2) hours can be in the SC office working on SC related business, or committee service, or functions outside of the office (i.e., Convocation, Programming, Student Org. Day, Homecoming, WinterFest) with verification of attendance and participation. Spring/Summer semester, and WSU break weeks is an exception.  Members must serve at least six (6) hours a month during the summer semester.  During WSU break weeks members have an option to serving their hours those weeks during any other week.

Failure to fulfill all three (3) office hours each week during the normal school year or the six (6) hours a month during the Spring/Summer semester will result in one automatic (excused) absence in attendance of SC meetings.

Committee Service
All SC members are required to serve on a minimum of one (1) University Committee, Board of Governors Committee or SC Executive Committee.  Failure to join and participate in a committee by the second month of the member’s term of office is grounds for removal from office.
