Emerging Leader Award Application

The application deadline is 5 p.m. Monday, March 3, 2008. Nominees for the Emerging Leader Award must complete the Emerging Leader Student Leadership Activity Form in order to be considered. It is the responsibility of the nominator to notify the student and have him/her fill out the Student Leadership Activity Form. The form must be turned in with the application by the deadline date in order for the nomination to be considered by the selection committee.
Incomplete applications will not be considered.

Emerging Leader Award Criteria:

  • Recognizes the efforts of emerging leaders on Wayne State's campus.  Award recipients will demonstrate that they have participated in experiences that have helped develop their leadership skills, and that they have taken on roles in co-curricular activities that have increased their responsibilities.  Must also show potential for future involvement/leadership positions.

  • Students must demonstrate an ability to balance academics with their leadership and involvement.

  • Any undergraduate student is eligible who has accumulated less than 60 WSU credit hours and has demonstrated the capacity to enhance their leadership skills while in service to the Wayne State Community.

  • Applicants must be in good academic standing, with a minimum 2.5 cumulative grade point average, at the time of application, selection, and presentation of the award.  A student may not be on disciplinary probation.

  • The period of eligibility includes involvement during the Fall of 2007 and Winter of 2008.

  • Up to 5 students will be recognized for this award.

  • No self-nominations accepted.

  • Award recipients will also receive a $25 gift certificate to the WSU Barnes and Noble Bookstore.
